We've been fans of Work Drugs for quite a while now. They're interesting because they manage to replicate a standard of high quality with all their tracks. Work Drugs, from our observations, has managed to produce music both efficiently, and practically, without compromising on quality at all.
Their sound, however, is what got us hooked. Work Drugs creates a sound that is infused with major elements of synth-pop, indie-rock, and electro. They essentially boast a one-of-a-kind style of music called "Smooth-fi" (according to them). Whether you want to call it "Smooth-fi" or simply "music", Work Drugs' tracks are horrifically catchy and unbelievably original.
It is because of Work Drugs' sheer originality, that we sought an interview with them. They're not only talented musicans, but great people as well! Check it out below!

1) How on Earth did Work Drugs start?
Work Drugs started with myself and Ben Louisiana sailing through
the Florida Keys and writing songs together.
At the end of the trip we realized we wrote a bunch of songs that we felt
like we should share with the world. From there we picked our favorites
and put them out on a home made CD called Summer Blood. It's been strong
sailing ever since.
2) What major artists/genres have you taken influence from, in
regards to your sound?
I would say we draw influence from all over the map and past
decades. While we are students of pop music, our influences range from
Marvin Gaye to the Doobie Brothers to Steely Dan to Ariel Pink to Yo La Tengo.
The list goes on and on.
3) Where do you guys see Work Drugs 5 years from now? 10?
We just plan on continuing to make music. It's the only
thing we know how to do.
4) We're known for asking this, and this is tough, but what are
your top 3 tracks of all time?
Well I can't speak for Ben, but my Top 3 of the moment are...
Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road
, The Smiths - How Soon is Now? , Phil Collins - Take Me Home
5) Aside music, what do the people behind Work Drugs do for fun?
Oh lots of things. Travel around the world... either by
sea or by air... depends on how much time we have. We just like checking
out new places and cultures. We hope to play shows around the world
someday.
6) Do you have any EPs, albums, or singles in the pipe line?
Yes! We have a new album called Runaways due out this fall
on our label Bobby Cahn Records. We recently put out the first single
from it called Double Life and we're working to wrap up the complete package
this summer.
7) Do you have any international tours coming up?
Nothing international planned this year. We usually focus
on song writing first and if a show offer comes to our door we will entertain
it. Last year we went to Sweden
and that was a great experience for us.
8) Now for the serious stuff, whats your all time favorite pizza
topping (individual answers please)
Tom: Pepperoni
Ben : Sausage, Peppers, and Onions
9) Is there anything you'd like to shout out to your fans?
Thanks for the support over the last 3 years and we hope to see
you all soon. Stay smooth.
