The Babe Rainbow, a very classy independent Australian psychedelic rock group, really caught our attention recently.
To begin with, their music is all unbelievably authenthic. Though bands like Tame Impala and Triptides do manage to catch the 60s vibe at times, all ( three) of The Babe Rainbow’s
compositions sound like they’re from 1964- literally 1964 (the title of
their second released single). Perhaps it is their recording equipment, or
maybe even the way they tune their guitars, but The Babe Rainbow really pulls off the 60s psychedelic rock feel in all of their tracks.
The second
thing that struck us about The Babe Rainbow was the oddity of track names
and the beauty of their album artwork. One particular track that really hooked
us was “Secret Enchanted
Broccoli Forest”. Yes, you read that correctly. Even cooler than
the track’s name (arguably) is its artwork.
